All instructors at the studio are trained to advanced level 3 and are listed with The Register of Exercise Professionals. Our Pilates experts have all trained with the U.K’s leading teachers organisation – Body Control Pilates and are qualified to the highest level (advanced level 3) and are registered with the Register of Exercise Professionals.

Since opening the business in 2001, it has grown organically from the original fitness concept to embrace other aspects of well being, including mindfulness, bodywork and beauty treatments. Director, Emma Newham, who has been in the fitness industry for over two decades, advocates a holistic approach to treating the body as well as the mind.

With over forty group classes a week, we have a class to suit everybody, regardless of age or ability.

If group classes are not for you, we offer a bespoke one to one personal training with sessions tailored to your needs.

Corporate Wellbeing sessions in the workplace are a popular choice to maintain a healthy workforce and help to reduce stress and improve mood.

Several of our teachers are specialists in certain areas such as back care, rehabilitation and pregnancy fitness.

Emma Newham

Having been in the fitness industry for over two decades, Director Emma Newham, is one of the longest serving Pilates instructors in the UK. She is an advanced level three Body Control Pilates instructor and is an advanced Level 4 member of the Register of Exercise Professionals. Emma has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the fitness industry with qualifications in yoga, Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis, Cardiac Rehabilitation, BarreConcept, Exercise to music and Personal Training.

Emma is also an assessor and a qualified IQA (Internal Quality Assurance ) - internal verifier certification.

Emma has trained under and worked with numerous prolific figures in the industry including Patabi Jois, John Scott, Paul Grilley, David Swenson, Madeline Black, Eric Franklin, Elizabeth Larkham, Gordon Thompson, Alan Menezes to name but a few.

Pilates Union UK was founded by Emma in 2008. The company caters for the needs of the global Pilates community and specialises in teacher training. Her Pilates and Barre Teacher Training courses are accredited by the awarding body Central YMCA qualificaitons and Skills Active.

Emma is creator of the BarreConcept Method - the UK's number one ballet barre workout. She runs instructor training courses internationally in this concept and her BarreConcept Method is the only barre course in the world that has gained international accreditation in the UK, USA, Canada and Australia. BarreConcept is now Europe's leading barre training provider.

Author to 8 published exercise training manuals, her books are in demand from Pilates enthusiasts all over the world. Her best selling BarreConcept Workout DVD"s iare a UK first.

She has a wealth of experience in the media, having appeared on national TV as well as hosting her own live weekly fitness slot on London radio. She had her own fitness column in the Gazette and has had articles published in glossy fitness magazines and appeared in The Guardian, The Times, The Mirror, The Herald, Metro, The Echo and The Sun newspapers.

Aside from teacher training, Emma’s speciality is in sports training and rehabilitation. She has taught Premiership and International footballers, England Cricketers, Leading Principal ballet dancers, gymnasts and worked extensively in Ireland with leading dressage riders and horse trainers.

She has taught in Australia, India, Germany, Canada, Sweden and Ireland, Jordan.

Jasmine Roberts

Jasmine is a very experienced member of staff and teaches in our Boldon and Durham Studios. Having gained her Level 3 Pilates Mat qualification with Pilates Union UK, she went on to train in the Pilates Apparatus and small equipment.

She is also a qualified Level 3 Yoga instructor, with CYQ accredited training. Jasmine offers a varitey of Hatha yoga and Hot yoga as well as Yogalates at our studios.

Recently, BarreConcept instructor has been added to Jasmine's portfolio. This method combines Ballet with the technique of yoga and precision of Pilates.

Jasmine also offers one to one private lessons as well as group classes.

Hilary Graham

Hilary heads up our Durham studio and offers a variety of different movement methods as well as bodywork techniques.

Having gained her Level 3 Pilates Mat qualification with Body Control Pilates, she went on to train in the Pilates Apparatus and small equipment with Pilates Union UK.

Following on from her Pilates education, Hilary undertook the Level 4 back care specialist course with Body Control Pilates in order to gain a better understanding of how to deal with clients suffering from acute back pain and injury.

She is also a qualified Level 3 Yoga instructor, with CYQ accredited training and teaches a variety of different yoga styles.

Recently, BarreConcept instructor has been added to her portfolio. This method combines Ballet with the technique of yoga and precision of Pilates.

As our resident pregnancy expert, Hilary offers ante and post natal exercise classes as well as being the only licenced FitDank Baby instructor in the North East.

Biomechanical Assessments and bodywork are on offer from Hilary at our Durham studio. These treatments are designed to bring the body back into balance and alignment.

Hilary is a Nordic Walking qualified instructor and offers one to one private lessons as well as group classes.

Kay Kelly

Kay has a wealth of expertise in the fitness industry and has been working at MyBody Studios for over a decade. She is our most experienced yoga instructor, having done her iniial training at the Sivananda ashram in the Himalayas.

She went on to study with the Yoga Biomedical Trust by completing the Yoga Therapy Foundation Course (recognised by the NHS).Kay has also studied under the famous yoga anatomist, Paul Grilley. More recently, Kay is now qualified to teach aerial reverse gravity yoga on the yoga swings and also offers Hot yoga.

Kay trained with Body Control Pilates and has qualified to the standard of advanced level 3 instructor. She is also qualified to teach Pilates Reformer machine sessions with Pilates Union UK.

BarreConcept has recently been added to her portfolio, which is a mix of ballet, Pilates and yoga.

Kay is based at our Boldon studio and is available for private lessons and group classes.

Nic Watson

Nic has over a decade of experience in the fitness industry and has taught group exercise and Les Mills programmes in health clubs and gyms all over the North East.

She is certified to Level 3 Mat Pilates standard and likes to combine her Pilates style with some yoga movements, to give a blended all-round workout.

Other certifications include Level 2 Exercise to music; Level 3 post and prenatal exercise and Level 3 Independently Active Adults (over 50s )

Nic joins us as an experienced Vinyasa Yoga instructor, where she gained her 200 hour Yoga Alliance qualification at the Vinyasa Yoga School in Rishikesh, India.

She is an extremely popular teacher, who is dynamic, vivacious and friendly and her classes are fun and challenging.

Craig Thompson

Craig started out his yoga journey as a student of MyBody Studios over a decade ago. His love of yoga eventually lead him to undertake the 200 hour yoga teacher training course in 2015.

Craig teaches our male only class - Yoga for Men - for those individuals who prefer to be taught by a man, in a male environment.

His Yogalates class is a mixed session for men and women, where he mixes his own unique blend of yoga stretches, with some Pilates core abdominal work - a very popular class.

His style is flowing and dynamic, teaching vinyasa yoga sequences with an edge.

Pamela O'Hara

Pamela is passionate about yoga and mental health.

She teaches our beginners yoga workshops and classes and adopts a gentle, friendly approach to teaching.

Pam specialises in helping others to reduce stress and anxiety in their lives and this reflects in her teaching style and approach.

Her monthly workshops in Meditation and Movement are popular, combining gentle stretches with relaxation techniques to calm body, mind and soul.

Our Sunday evening Yin Yoga session, taught by Pam is a wonderful wind-down class and a chance for you to chill out and get some wonderful stretches to open our the body and reduce tension.

Pamela also holds certifications in Aerial Yoga.

Emma Mills

Emma was a student of MyBody Studios for many years, taking part in various Pilates, Yoga and Barre Classes.

Her love of Kundalini yoga and the effects it had on her body, mind and soul, lead her to undertake the Kundalini Yoga instructor training.

She is a very spiritual person, with a lovely aura and a kind heart. Wise beyond her years, her energy is infectious and her classes are uplifting and transformative.
