Online BarreConcept Training Course

Internationally Accredited Online Barre Instructor Training Course

This increasingly popular exercise regime incorporates the precision of Pilates with the positions, moves, grace and technique of ballet. Add to this the alignment of yoga and the strength from sports conditioning and you will have all of the aspects of a typical Barre workout. The combined elements of the different methods fuse to form a challenging and exciting workout, which stretches and sculpts the muscles, whilst burning fat. Balance, strength, stamina, power, flexibility and motor control all improve. This workout produces dramatic results that sculpt and redefine the entire body, without even being a dancer

The low impact, total body workout lifts the butt, tones the thighs, flattens the abs and sculpts the arms, whilst protecting the joints. Small isometric contractions are performed and integrated with an interval training approach that burns fat and improves cardiovascular fitness. Posture, flexibility, stamina and core strength improve. The result is a body that is realigned, rebalanced and works harmoniously and efficiently. Stretches are performed after each strength section of the class to ensure the muscles are re-lengthened to create a body that is strong without the added bulk of other regimes. This workout is suitable for everybody as various adaptations are given throughout the class to suit the abilities of all students.

Professional Development

BarreConcept is classed as CPD – meaning that you already have to be a certified instructor in possession of an industry award (qualification) in order to take the course. You are therefore building on your skills that you have already acquired as a qualified instructor. Upon successful completion of the course, you would be certified to teach BarreConcept (but it is not a qualification in and of itself)

Assessments

In order to achieve a pass in this course, 2 assessments must be successfully submitted –

Assessment One – BarreConcept Theory Quiz (80% pass)

Assessment Two – Practical one hour exam. You must submit a video of you teaching a healthy adult. You must teach from your choreographed week 5 lesson plan routine that you will learn on the course.

Ideally, you can use an iPad to film your exam video. Place the iPad on a surface where you and your client are in full view for the entire video. It is suggested to film for a few minutes and then check your video to see that the angle is correct and that your voice is sufficiently audible. If everything seems fine, go ahead and video your full lesson.

Upon completions of your video, you can upload this onto any internet application that allows you to send large files (such as Dropbox, Google Drive or You Send It for example). You must not upload to You Tube or any publicly viewable social media. You may also put your video onto a CD or USB stick and send via the post.

Please note that there is a £45 cost for your assessment. This covers your assessors time to watch your video and give you feedback. This also covers the cost of your certificate.

Costs

The course costs £245 GBP. A copy of the information contained in the Pilates Union BarreConcept manual is viewable online. Should you wish to have a hard copy of the manual, this costs £21.99 and is available online. The other cost is for the practical assessment. A fee of £45 is payable when submitting your practical exam video. This covers your assessors time to watch your video and give you feedback. This also covers the cost of your certificate. There is also a cost of £120 for your lifetime membership, which gives you a business listing on the international BarreConcept website, so that the media, public and employers know that you are the local accredited instructor for your area. In addition, you will receive the BarreConcept trademark, logos and marketing pack. Most importantly, you will receive online ongoing education to support your classes. You will have access to new choreographed routines to encourage client retention.
