Reiki is an ancient art, which was developed by Dr Mikao Usui in early 20th Century Japan. It is a method of natural healing based on the use of the Universal Life Force. Earth energy, or "Ki" is channelled through the practitioner’s hands. Everybody experiences Reiki differently. You may feel heat, see colours, experience strong emotions, tingling and usually a sense of deep relaxation. You may fall asleep or feel rejuvenated and energised. It helps reduce stress, anxiety and depression. One treatment is the equivalent of 3-4 hours sleep.

Reiki is about moving into a state of balance on all levels: mind, body and soul. Reiki makes people more calm, positive and better able to cope with the stresses of everyday life. It works in the same way as yoga and T'ai Chi do with the movement of energy, promoting wellbeing.
It is totally safe for everybody, children and adults alike. During the hour session, the patient remains fully clothed and may be treated lying down or sitting up depending upon mobility. The practitioner places their hands very lightly on the body in a variety of different positions allowing the energy to move freely within the body and helping the body to heal itself.
